The Special Disaster Team finale and CD release party has been called by many: "The Best Special Disaster Team Show
Ever." The whole night was emotionally charged as throngs of young faces flooded the concert hall. Of all the bands to
have shot out of Buzz's Subs, here in Norman, Oklahoma, Special Disaster Team has been one of the only to send the building
past maximum capacity. With 200+ rudeboys and skagirls in the audience, the building was packed. On a stage freshly painted
with green flames, the band played like never before. Setting the crowd into a frenzy, the band rocked out song after song.
The first song was an odd mix of both dark sorrow, as the crowd realized that this truly was the end, and shimmering ecstasy,
as each fan embraced the new songs and the vibe that filled the room to it's brim. After playing an amazing first set, the
band gave way for the guitarwork of Aaron Squirrel.
Despite his age, Aaron has the musical finesse of Joe Satriani. Playing a short set as an intermission, he quickly
showed the crowd just how skillful he truly is. Next up was hometown favorite, Third Grade Scuffle. 3GS served up
a heaping hot dish of awesome, covered with WOW sauce. Singer Matt proves that his band can play just as well as headliners,
Special Disaster Team. The band pumped out one song after another in sync to the shakes, hoots and hollers of the band's followers.
Easy going, yet strong, this band will hopefully be around for years to come. After finishing up a great set, Third Grade
Scuffle left the stage to Aaron Squirrel again for another intermission.
Soon, Special Disaster Team was back on the stage, amid the shouts of spirited fans. An almost fanatical following,
the teenaged crowd skanks their collective butts off, moving to the pulse of each song. Pick a song, any song, and they probably
played it and played it well. After the "last song," the band came out for one more song, a crowdpleaser. As the
final song blared, the audience turned into a friendly mosh, with a few hardcore rudeboys still skanking it up. Ultra-saturated
with sweat, the band waved one last fairwell to the fans, and with that, the show was over.
